Your right to opt out

Last updated: November 2, 2026.

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives California residents the right to tell a business not to sell or share their personal information. Several other states, including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and Oregon, give residents a similar right to opt out of sales and targeted advertising.

VivaLoanApp honors these requests. This page explains what the right covers and how to use it. For the full picture of what we collect, read our Privacy Policy.

What “sell” and “share” mean here

Under the CCPA/CPRA, “sell” can include disclosing personal information to another business for something of value, not only for money. “Share” means disclosing it for cross-context behavioral advertising, which is ad targeting based on activity across different websites.

At VivaLoanApp, this may include:

  • Passing your loan request to lenders and lending partners, since we may be compensated as described on our Disclosures page
  • Cookies and pixels from advertising partners that track visits across sites

If you opt out before submitting a request, lenders may not be able to receive it, and you may not get any offers. You can still read every guide on the site.

Information that a lender collects as a financial institution may be covered by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) instead of the CCPA. In that case, the lender’s own privacy notice explains your choices.

How to submit an opt-out request

  1. Email [email protected].
  2. Use the subject line: Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
  3. Include your full name, the email address and phone number you used on the site, and your state of residence.
  4. Tell us whether you also want to limit the use of sensitive personal information, such as your SSN or bank details.

Example email: “Please do not sell or share my personal information. Name: Jane Doe. Email used: [email protected]. Phone used: (555) 010-0000. State: California. Please also limit use of my sensitive personal information.”

You do not need to create an account. We will not charge you a fee, and we will not treat you differently or deny you service for using this right.

Global Privacy Control

Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a browser setting or extension that sends an opt-out signal to every site you visit. VivaLoanApp treats a GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information linked to that browser.

Most major browsers support GPC directly or through an extension. Brave and Firefox, for example, offer it in privacy settings, and the signal is sent automatically once turned on. If we detect a GPC signal, we do not run advertising cookies that would count as sharing for that browser.

Because GPC is tied to the browser and device, it may not reach information we hold from another device or from your form submission. To cover everything, also send an email request.

Verification and authorized agents

We verify requests to protect you. If someone else could opt you out or ask to delete your data without checks, your loan request or records could be disrupted without your knowledge.

Verification

Opt-out requests do not require full identity verification, but we may ask for enough detail to find your records. For requests to know, delete or correct information, we verify your identity by matching details you provide with information we hold. Do not send your full SSN or bank account number by email.

Authorized agents

You can let someone else submit a request for you. The agent must provide written permission signed by you, or a valid power of attorney. We may ask you to confirm your identity directly with us before acting on the agent’s request.

Response timelines

Request typeOur response
Opt out of sale or sharingActed on as soon as feasible, and no later than 15 business days
Know, delete or correctConfirmation within 10 business days; full response within 45 days
ExtensionOne extra 45 days if reasonably needed, with notice and a reason

Your opt-out stays in effect unless you later tell us you want to opt back in, for example by submitting a new loan request after we explain the effect. We will not ask you to opt back in for at least 12 months after an opt-out, except where the law allows.

We pass opt-outs on to third parties that received your information after you made the request, as the law requires. If we deny a request, we explain why. Residents of states with an appeal right may reply with “Appeal” in the subject line. Questions? See our Contact page.

Frequently asked questions

Will opting out stop my loan request?

It can. Sending your request to lenders may count as a sale or sharing, so opting out before you submit may mean lenders cannot receive it.

Is there a fee to opt out?

No. Opting out is free, and we will not deny service or treat you differently for using your privacy rights.

Ready to see your options?
