Why the Viva names are easy to mix up
Type “viva loans” into a search bar and you’ll see several sites with nearly identical names. They are separate businesses with different models, and choosing the wrong one can waste time or lead to a costlier loan than you need.
This page puts four services side by side: VIVA Finance, Viva Payday Loans, Vivaloan and our own service, VivaLoanApp. We use public information as of 2026 for the first three. Details can change, so confirm current terms on each company’s official site before applying.

Viva loans comparison table
Here is how the four services compare on the points that matter most. “Advertised” means the figure comes from the company’s own marketing; the lender you work with sets the actual terms.
| Feature | VIVA Finance | Viva Payday Loans | Vivaloan | VivaLoanApp |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Type | Direct lender (originated by Thread Bank, DR Bank or VIVA Finance Inc., per its site) | Loan-matching broker; not a direct lender | Online personal loan marketplace; not a lender | Independent loan-request service; not a lender |
| Amounts | Up to $15,000 listed (earlier coverage said up to $10,000) | $100–$5,000 advertised | $100–$15,000 advertised | Request $100–$5,000; lender decides actual amount |
| Terms | Up to 36 months | 2–24 months advertised | Set by matched lender | Commonly 2–24 months for installment offers; some short-term offers repaid in one payment |
| APR info | 11.99%–35.99% including fees, per its site | Roughly 5.99%–35.99% advertised | Set and disclosed by matched lender | Network installment lenders commonly disclose 5.99%–35.99%; short-term lenders can charge more where state law permits |
| Credit approach | Underwritten mainly on employment; repayment often by payroll deduction | Depends on matched lender | Depends on matched lender | Many lenders start with a soft inquiry; hard inquiry possible before final approval; bad credit considered by some lenders |
| Availability notes | Requires an eligible employer; not in all states; not currently available to active military or dependents | Operator listed by Financer as Payday Ventures Limited, London; unrelated Australian site uses .com.au | Reported unavailable in New York, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. | Not available in every state; lenders follow your state’s laws; MLA 36% MAPR protection applies |
| Cost to use | No separate service fee; cost is the loan’s APR and fees | Borrower pays the matched lender’s APR and fees | Borrower pays the matched lender’s APR and fees | $0 to use the service; any loan carries the lender’s disclosed APR and fees |

The key differences, explained
Lender vs matching service
VIVA Finance is the only one of the four that describes itself as a direct lender. With the other three, you submit information to one company and, if things go well, borrow from another. That isn’t a problem, but it means you should always check the name on the loan agreement.
How you qualify
VIVA Finance’s defining feature is employment-based underwriting. If your employer is a partner, your job carries much of the weight. If not, you can’t use it. The matching services instead pass your details to lenders who look at income, banking history and usually credit, with no employer link required.
How much you can borrow
VIVA Finance and Vivaloan list maximums up to $15,000. Viva Payday Loans and VivaLoanApp focus on $100 to $5,000. If you need $8,000, the smaller-range services won’t fit. If you need $400, a $15,000 maximum doesn’t help you either.
Where you live and who you are
Every service is limited by state law. Vivaloan is reported as unavailable in New York, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. VIVA Finance isn’t in every state and currently excludes active military and dependents. VivaLoanApp isn’t available everywhere either, and lenders in its network must follow Military Lending Act protections for covered borrowers.
How you repay
With VIVA Finance, payments often come straight out of your paycheck through payroll deduction. With loans arranged through the matching services, repayment is usually an automatic debit from your checking account on scheduled dates. Payroll deduction makes missed payments less likely, while bank debits give you a little more control over timing. Either way, a payment that would overdraw your account can trigger fees from both your bank and the lender, so line up due dates with your paydays.

What the cost looks like in dollars
APR ranges are hard to picture, so here are the same $2,000 over 12 months at three rates. These are illustrations, not quotes from any of the companies above.
| APR | Monthly payment | Total repaid | Total interest |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11.99% | about $177.69 | about $2,132.26 | about $132.26 |
| 29.22% | about $194.21 | about $2,330.49 | about $330.49 |
| 35.99% | about $200.91 | about $2,410.97 | about $410.97 |
The middle row is our representative example: $2,000 borrowed for 12 months at 29.22% APR = 12 monthly payments of about $194.21; total repaid about $2,330.49; total interest about $330.49. Example only, not an offer.
Personal installment lenders in our network commonly disclose APRs between 5.99% and 35.99%. Short-term and small-dollar lenders can charge considerably more where state law permits. The exact APR, fees and repayment schedule are disclosed by the lender before you sign. See rates and terms for more.
Which one fits you?
Use these scenarios to narrow your choice. If more than one fits, compare actual offers before deciding.
Your employer partners with VIVA Finance
Check VIVA Finance first. Its listed APR range tops out at 35.99% including fees, and payroll deduction keeps payments automatic. Ask HR whether you’re eligible. Our VIVA Finance explainer covers the details.
You need $5,000 to $15,000
VIVA Finance (if eligible) and Vivaloan list higher maximums. Also compare a bank or credit union personal loan, which may offer lower rates for larger amounts if your credit is solid.
You need $100 to $5,000 and don’t have an eligible employer
A matching or request service is the more practical route. VivaLoanApp lets you send one free request to lenders in its network. Viva Payday Loans and Vivaloan are other options in this range.
You need a few hundred dollars for a week or two
Try a credit union Payday Alternative Loan, an employer pay advance or a bill payment plan first. If you do borrow, an installment structure is usually easier to repay than a single lump sum. Read Viva payday loans to understand the costs.
You’re active-duty military or a covered dependent
VIVA Finance currently isn’t available to you. Lenders that serve you must follow the Military Lending Act’s 36% MAPR cap. Also look at military relief societies and credit unions that serve servicemembers.
Your credit is poor
Bad credit is considered by some lenders, but approval is never guaranteed with any service. Employment-based underwriting may help if you qualify. Otherwise, expect higher APRs and compare totals closely. Our bad credit guide has more tips.
Where VivaLoanApp fits in
VivaLoanApp is an independent online loan-request service. We are not a lender, we don’t make credit decisions and we don’t set rates or terms. Our service costs you $0.
- One request for $100 to $5,000, shared with third-party lenders and lending partners in our network
- A fast decision from many lenders, often beginning with a soft inquiry
- Full APR, fees and schedule disclosed by the lender before you sign
- No obligation to accept any offer
- Funds as soon as the next business day if you’re approved and accept, though timing isn’t guaranteed
Typical lender requirements: age 18 or older (or your state’s age of majority), U.S. residency, a regular source of income, an active checking account in your name, a valid email and phone number, and usually your SSN for identity and credit checks. Start your free request if it fits your situation.
Checklist before you apply anywhere
Run through this list before you submit an application or request with any of the four services.
- Confirm the website. Check the address bar. The Viva names are similar, and an Australian site uses vivapaydayloans.com.au.
- Set your amount. Write down exactly what you need and why. Borrowing extra only adds interest.
- Set your payment limit. Know the most you can pay each month without missing rent, utilities or food.
- Check eligibility. Confirm your state is served, and for VIVA Finance, that your employer is eligible.
- Gather documents. Have your ID, SSN, income details and checking account information ready.
- Compare totals. Look at the total of payments on each offer, not only the monthly amount.
- Read the fine print. Check origination fees, late fees, payment dates and prepayment terms.
- Refuse upfront fees. Legitimate lenders don’t charge you before funding. The FTC flags this as a scam sign.
- Know your rights. TILA requires clear cost disclosures. You can complain to the CFPB or your state regulator.
Alternatives to all four
Sometimes the best Viva option is none of them. Before borrowing, consider:
- Credit union PALs with capped APRs for small amounts
- Employer pay advances or earned-wage access through your workplace
- Payment plans with utilities, medical providers and landlords
- Nonprofit credit counseling for budgeting help and debt management plans
These can cost less than any loan. If they don’t cover the gap, compare offers carefully and borrow only what you can repay on schedule.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between VIVA Finance and Vivaloan?
VIVA Finance describes itself as a direct lender that underwrites mainly on employment through employer partnerships. Vivaloan is an online marketplace that connects you with lenders and does not lend money itself.
Is Viva Payday Loans the same as VIVA Finance?
No. Viva Payday Loans (vivapaydayloans.com) is a broker site that Financer lists as operated by Payday Ventures Limited of London. VIVA Finance is a separate Atlanta-based lender.
Which Viva option has the lowest APR?
VIVA Finance lists 11.99% to 35.99% including fees, and the matching services advertise ranges starting around 5.99%. Your actual rate depends on the lender, your state and your profile, so compare real offers rather than advertised ranges.
Which Viva service lends the most?
VIVA Finance and Vivaloan both list amounts up to $15,000. Viva Payday Loans advertises up to $5,000, and VivaLoanApp accepts requests from $100 to $5,000.
Can I use more than one service?
Yes, you can compare offers from several sources. Keep in mind that each lender may run its own credit check, and hard inquiries can add up.
Which option is best if my employer isn’t a VIVA Finance partner?
A matching or request service is usually more practical, along with credit union loans and payment plans. VivaLoanApp accepts free requests for $100 to $5,000 with no employer link required.
Does VivaLoanApp charge a fee?
No. VivaLoanApp costs borrowers $0. If you accept a loan, you pay the APR and any fees the lender discloses before you sign.
