Viva Finance Requirements: Eligibility, Documents and Next Steps

VIVA Finance approves loans mainly on your job, not just your credit. Here is who qualifies, what to prepare, and what to do if you don't meet the requirements.

  • Employer eligibility comes first
  • Documents and verification steps
  • Options if you're declined
Quick answer

Viva Finance requirements center on your job. VIVA's FAQ says approval is primarily based on employment information, and you'll typically need two recent paystubs, a hire-date document and government ID. Finder adds a supported employer, one year with the same company, a work email and age 18+. Active-duty military members and dependents aren't currently eligible.

Viva Finance Requirements at a Glance

Viva Finance requirements look different from those of most personal lenders. VIVA Finance, Inc., an Atlanta fintech founded in 2019, says on its FAQ page that approvals are "primarily based on employment information." Your loan amount and rate may also depend on income and credit history. Requirements vary by employer, so your exact list may differ.

The checklist below combines VIVA's own FAQ, checked November 2, 2026, with Finder's review, updated December 11, 2025. Finder discloses that it earns commissions from some partners. Where the two sources differ, we say so. Always confirm on VIVA's site before you apply.

Your Employer: The First Viva Finance Eligibility Test

The biggest factor is where you work. VIVA's loans are underwritten mainly on employment and are often repaid through payroll deduction through employer partnerships. If your employer isn't part of its program, you generally can't get a loan the standard way.

If your employer isn't listed, VIVA's FAQ says you can submit a "New Employer Request." That asks VIVA to review your employer; it isn't an approval. Plan for a wait, and keep other options open if you need money soon.

Length of employment

Finder lists at least one year with the same company. VIVA's FAQ asks for a hire-date document, so your start date clearly matters. If you changed jobs recently, ask VIVA whether your time at the new employer meets its rules before you apply.

Work email

Finder lists a work email as a requirement. A work address helps confirm that you work where you say you do. If your job doesn't give you one, ask VIVA what other verification it accepts.

Questions to ask HR first

Your HR or payroll team can save you time. Ask whether the company already works with VIVA, who handles payroll deductions, and how you would stop a deduction after payoff. If HR has never heard of the program, that's a strong sign you'll need the New Employer Request route or a different lender.

Income and credit history

Employment comes first, but it isn't the only factor. VIVA says amount and rate may also depend on income and credit history. A steady paycheck can help you qualify, while your credit history may shape how much you're offered and at what rate.

Documents to Prepare Before You Apply

VIVA's FAQ lists three common documents. Have digital copies ready before you start so the application doesn't stall halfway through.

  • Two recent paystubs. These show your employer, pay and regular deductions. Use the most recent ones and make sure your name and your employer's name are easy to read.
  • A hire-date document. This shows when you started your job. Ask HR which record shows your start date, and confirm with VIVA that it will accept that record.
  • Government-issued ID. For example, a driver's license, state ID or passport. Check that it hasn't expired.

Requirements vary by employer, so VIVA may ask for something different. Answer quickly if it requests more information, since a delay on your side delays the decision.

Quick prep checklist

  • Paystubs saved as PDFs or clear photos
  • Photo of your ID, front and back
  • Name and contact details for your HR or payroll team
  • Access to your work email
  • Your online banking login, so you can check for micro-deposits

Ready when you are. Request $100–$5,000 with one free form and see whether a lender in our network can make you an offer. Start your request.

Bank Verification and the Micro-Deposit Step

VIVA's FAQ says the application verifies your bank account with two micro-deposits under $0.10 each. You check your account for the two small amounts, then confirm them with VIVA. This shows the account is yours and ready to receive funds.

Watch your account activity after you apply. If the deposits don't appear, contact VIVA rather than starting a new application, which could create duplicate records. VIVA lists phone support hours of 8 am to 8 pm ET Monday through Thursday and 8 am to 5 pm ET on Friday.

After you sign, VIVA says funds generally arrive 1 to 2 business days later. Because repayment is often through payroll deduction, read how the deduction is set up and how to stop it once the loan is paid off.

Finder lists deductions continuing after payoff as a complaint theme. VIVA says the borrower must stop the deduction through their employer or payroll. Save your payoff confirmation and check the next pay stub.

Credit reporting

Finder reports that VIVA reports to all three major credit bureaus. On-time payments may help your credit over time, while missed payments can hurt it. Our explainer on payroll deduction loans covers the deduction process in more detail.

Military Exclusion and State Availability

Active-duty military and dependents

VIVA's FAQ says it is not currently available to active-duty military members or their dependents. If that applies to you, look elsewhere. Lenders that do serve covered borrowers must follow the Military Lending Act, which limits covered credit to a 36% Military Annual Percentage Rate.

Where VIVA lends

VIVA isn't available in every state. Its site lists state licensing and disclosures for South Carolina, New Mexico, Alabama, Michigan and Missouri, but that FAQ page doesn't publish a full state list.

Finder listed 27 states: AL, AZ, AR, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MO, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX and WA. Finder's review was last updated December 11, 2025, so that list may have changed.

Confirm availability with VIVA before you gather documents. You can also look up a lender's license through NMLS Consumer Access or your state financial regulator.

Loan amounts and terms

Sources also differ on amounts. VIVA's FAQ lists up to $15,000 with repayment up to 36 months and an APR of 11.99% to 35.99%, including all fees and loan costs. Finder lists $1,000 to $10,000 over 5 to 24 months. Treat VIVA's own site as the more current source and confirm before you apply.

Common Reasons an Application May Be Declined

VIVA doesn't publish a full list of denial reasons, and Finder notes that some past borrowers reported denials. Based on the requirements above, these are the most likely sticking points:

  • Your employer isn't part of VIVA's program
  • You haven't been at your job long enough (Finder lists one year)
  • Paystubs or your hire-date document are missing, unclear or out of date
  • Bank verification wasn't completed
  • You live in a state VIVA doesn't serve
  • You're an active-duty servicemember or a dependent
  • Your income or credit history limits what VIVA can offer

If you're declined, ask the lender for the reason. A lender that denies credit generally must send you a notice that explains the decision or tells you how to request the reasons. Use that information to decide whether to fix something and reapply or move on.

Check your free credit reports at AnnualCreditReport.com too. Errors on a report can affect any lender's decision, and you can dispute mistakes with the credit bureau.

Before you reapply

  • Confirm your employer is now part of VIVA's program, or that your New Employer Request was answered
  • Check that you meet the time-at-job rule Finder lists, and get your hire-date record from HR
  • Upload fresh paystubs that match the name on your ID
  • Have your banking login ready so you can confirm the micro-deposits promptly
  • Ask for a smaller amount if your income or credit history limited the first decision

Reapplying with the same gaps usually leads to the same result. Fix the specific issue first. If the problem is something you can't change, such as your employer, your state or your military status, compare other options instead.

What to Do If You Don't Meet Viva Finance Requirements

Not meeting Viva Finance requirements doesn't leave you without options. Pick the path that matches why you didn't qualify.

Too new at your jobWait until you meet the time requirement, or consider a credit union PAL
Active-duty military or dependentLenders that follow Military Lending Act limits, or credit union options
State not servedLenders licensed in your state; check NMLS Consumer Access

Struggling with existing debtNonprofit credit counseling through an NFCC member agency

Our page on loans like VIVA Finance covers these options in more depth. You can also review typical lender requirements for loan requests through our service.

VivaLoanApp is one more option. You submit one request for $100 to $5,000, and it is shared with third-party lenders in our network who may make an offer. Typical lender requirements are being at least 18 (or the age of majority in your state), a U.S. resident with a regular source of income, an active checking account in your own name, and a valid email and phone number. We are not a lender, we charge you $0, and approval is never guaranteed. If you'd like to compare offers, start your request.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need good credit to meet Viva Finance requirements?

Not necessarily. VIVA says approvals are primarily based on employment information. Your income and credit history may still affect the amount and rate you're offered.

What if my employer isn't on VIVA Finance's list?

VIVA's FAQ says you can submit a New Employer Request. That asks VIVA to review your employer, but it doesn't guarantee your employer will be added. Compare other options if you need funds soon.

How long do I need to work at my job to qualify for VIVA Finance?

Finder lists at least one year with the same company. VIVA's FAQ asks for a hire-date document, so your start date matters. Confirm the current rule with VIVA before you apply.

Why did VIVA Finance send two tiny deposits to my bank account?

VIVA verifies your bank account with two micro-deposits under $0.10. You confirm the amounts to show the account is yours. If they don't appear, contact VIVA instead of reapplying.

Can military families qualify for VIVA Finance?

VIVA's FAQ says it is not currently available to active-duty military members or their dependents. Covered borrowers can look at lenders that follow the Military Lending Act's 36% MAPR limit, including credit unions.

Is VIVA Finance available in every state?

No. Finder listed 27 states in its review updated December 11, 2025, and VIVA's site shows licensing disclosures for some states. Confirm your state with VIVA directly, since availability can change.

How soon could I get funds if I qualify?

VIVA says funds generally arrive 1 to 2 business days after you sign. Timing can depend on your bank and on finishing verification steps, such as the micro-deposit check.

Can I refinance a VIVA Finance loan later?

VIVA says refinancing may be offered to select customers after 12 months if they're current and paying through payroll. It isn't guaranteed, so ask VIVA about eligibility when you reach that point.
